Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jakob Silfverberg scored the only goal in the shootout, lifting the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center. Silfverberg was Anaheims second shooter in the final phase and snapped a low shot past Jonathan Quick on the blocker side. He is 7-for-11 this season in shootouts. I wanted to switch it up a little bit, said Silfverberg about his shootout attempt. I was going glove side a lot (recently). Frederik Andersen then stopped Marian Gaboriks backhand attempt to give Anaheim the extra point. Andersen also turned aside Jeff Carter and Anze Kopitar earlier in the shootout and finished the contest with 26 saves. Sami Vatanen scored the tying goal in the third period for the Ducks, who have won four in a row and six of their last seven. Anaheim just completed a 6-2-0 homestand and played on the road for the first time since Dec. 27 at Arizona. Kopitar and Alec Martinez scored for Los Angeles, which was coming off a home loss to New Jersey on Wednesday and fell to 1-2-3 in its last six games -- all at the Staples Center. Quick finished with 29 saves in defeat. The Kings retired the No. 4 jersey of Rob Blake in a lengthy ceremony before the game. Family members and former teammates were on hand to honor Blake, who spent parts of 14 seasons with the Kings. After a scoreless first period that featured 10 shots for each team, the Kings scored first at the 8:54 mark of the second on Martinezs fifth goal. His right point blast deflected off the arm of Anaheims Kyle Palmieri and fluttered past Andersen. The Ducks tied it with 5:41 remaining in the second after controlling a left faceoff draw. Patrick Maroon had the first whack at the rebound of a Corey Perry shot, freeing up the puck for Ryan Getzlaf, who flipped it home for his 14th goal. Los Angeles, though, cashed in a power play with 1:33 to play in the period, as Kopitar fired a shot into a wide open net from the right of the crease after a perfect feed from Gaborik below the left circle. Anaheim converted a power play with just over seven minutes left in the third period to again tie it. Vatanens shot from the top of the right circle glanced off Los Angeles defenseman Matt Greene before bouncing past Quick. You want to win those games, said Getzlaf.
